  I left!!!!

  this is my first posting on jwd!

  i wrote out my disassociation letter.

  i am sending many in the congregation copies of my letters exposing the fine "elders".

  I see in another post you were in for 10 years. Although this is quite a chunk of time I am encouraged.
  Most books about cults and high control groups say that 10 yrs is the average time it takes to
  be indoctrinated, assimilate, question, struggle, then leave.
  I am encouraged cause my husband is now starting his 7th year. He is the only one in our family.
  The struggles have been so damaging as you must be aware, and often I just want to give up.
  I'm at that point again as a matter of fact.
  Then I read the most beautiful words "I left!!!" and the dream starts up again.
  
  If you can, please speak about your experience, you give hope to many.
  
  Freedom is such a big word.

  Witness relief efforts in Katrina area... this surprised me

  some who may have seen my thread on reanimation of my friendship with my cousin who has been shunning me, know that i met with him.

  we had a long discussion, esp.

  one point he made was that some from his congregation went down recently to help rebuild some homes.

  Maybe the comments on this board are making a difference.
  Could JWD become a conscience?

  maybe mainstream is the only way to survive or
  as with everything the WT says/does -
  the appearance of it is what counts.
  and once THEY appear to be doing it - no one else is, or even comes close.
  
  If people actually get helped along the way - all the better.

  Memorial Celebration -- Bethel Needs to Check Their Calendar

  has anyone within bethel happened to check the jewish calendar?

  yesterday my stepdaughter was trying to figure out if she had the week off from school.

  so i looked up the nyc board of education calendar and was shocked to discover that she won't be off until april 21st - 25th.

  I have a few thoughts - I asked this question last year.
  
  I find they follow the Catholic calendar.
  there are more catholics than jews in this world now aren't there?
  
  
  when everyone's getting ready for easter - by that I mean christians that believe in the resurrection
  a high control group also calling themselves christian act just enough to be included in the "christian" group.
  so new outfits, special visitors - the air is there. separate of course
  
  A mature christian witnessing the passing over of christ's symbolic sacrifice might be offended by the anti-ritual and misuse of the command - do this in memory of me. Judging who is worthy to receive.
  
  Remember - the Wt is the self-proclaimed mediator (legal rep) between a jw & god. Every year an article or reference to one reminds us of this fact. Nevermind what the bible says. They (leaders and members keep each other in check) will determine your worthiness, your standing before god.

  COURTS ALLOW LAWRENCE HUGHES TO SUE WATCHTOWER SOCIETY

  last friday the judge decided that my wrongfull death suit for my daughters estate can proceed against the watchtower society and its lawyers and the doctors.

  the story received national news coverage on saturday and tuesday with alot of coverage on monday.

  today, associated press and cnn covered the story which makes it world news.. lawrence.
